The Cavalleri Family has owned land in Erbusco (in the province of Brescia, south of Lago d’Iseo) since 1450, as evidenced by a deed preserved in the family archive. Indeed Cavalleri is one of the historic names of Franciacorta, and its founder Giovanni was a fundamental figure in the history of the designation and the Consortium. While originally selling bulk wine to locals and restaurants, Cavalleri began to officially bottle their wine in 1967, after the implementation of the Franciacorta DOC regulations.
The first wave of investment and development quickly transformed Cavalleri into one of the leading wineries in the region, both in terms of planting techniques and cellar technology. In 1979 the first 6,000 bottles of Franciacorta were produced, which at that time could still be called method champenoise.
While expanding over the years, Cavalleri has deliberately kept its production to artisanal levels of approx 250,000 bottles annually and has remained unwavering in their commitment to quality.
The family owns 45 hectares of the finest vineyards in Erbusco, all organically farmed and based primarily on Chardonnay. Today, Giovanni’s work is continued by his daughters Maria and Giulia, and his grandchildren Francesco and Diletta, flanked by their competent staff. Their efforts have been recognized with various awards including several Tre Bicchieri.
We are proud to introduce their NV Franciacorta DOCG Brut Blanc de Blanc which is the winery’s most representative product.
