Tasting Notes

The production zone and grapes used for Rosso di Montepulciano are identical to Vino Nobile but the ageing requirements are shorter so Rosso di Montepulciano is known for its freshness and youthful style alongside the elegance of the sangiovese, locally know as prugnolo gentile. Rosso di Montepulciano is an excellent value for the money.

Made with 80% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot, grown organically (full certification is expected in 2023). On the nose aromas of ripe fruits, cherry and light vanilla stand out. Medium to full-bodied, savory, and pleasantly tannic in the mouth. Energetic and fresh. Rosso di Montepulciano is a perfect accompaniment for traditional Tuscan first courses, and its features are especially enhanced by meat sauces as well as cured meats and local cheeses.

Vinification

Harvest is carried out by hands towards the middle of September. Fermentation and maceration processes last 15-20 days in steel tanks at a temperature of 25-26°C (77-78F). The must is then racked and the temperature lowered to18-20°C (64-68F) to induce malolactic fermentation.

Aging

Aged for 6 months in traditional 3,500 lt. and 500 lt. French oak barrels.
